Gynecomastia Surgery

Restoring a Masculine Chest

Gynecomastia (male breast enlargement) is common and often resistant to diet or exercise. The condition occurs when excess glandular or fatty tissue builds up behind the nipple, creating fullness or a soft chest contour.

Even fit, lean men can develop persistent fullness in the chest area. Gynecomastia isn’t just about appearance. It can cause discomfort, self-consciousness, and difficulty with clothing or training.

Surgery removes what exercise can’t, by giving definition back to the pectoral area and confidence back to daily life.

How the Surgery Works

Each case is different, but the goal is always the same: a smooth, balanced chest.
Depending on the type of tissue, I may:

  • Use liposuction to remove excess fat and contour the chest muscles.

  • Use fat grafting to add bulk to the upper part of the chest.

  • Excise glandular tissue directly if it’s firm or fibrous beneath the nipple.

  • Tighten skin if there’s laxity after volume reduction.

  • Remove extra skin in massive weight loss patients.

Incisions are kept discreet around the lower half of the areola or within natural chest folds for minimal visibility once healed.

Are You a Good Candidate?

You may be a candidate for gynecomastia treatment if:

  • You’re in good general health and at a stable weight.

  • The chest remains full despite exercise or weight loss and for more than 6 months after development.

  • You’re looking for a permanent solution, not a temporary fix.

  • The underlying cause has been addressed, such as stopping medications, hormones, or treating a condition that may have contributed to the enlargement.

Whether the cause is hormonal, genetic, or medication-related, a proper evaluation helps determine whether your gynecomastia is mostly glandular, fatty, or mixed, so the surgical plan can be tailored accordingly.

What Recovery Looks Like

Most male breast reduction surgeries are done as outpatient procedures.

  • Mild swelling or bruising lasts 1–2 weeks.

  • Light activity resumes within days, gym work after 6–8 weeks.

  • , residual swelling lasts up to 6 months. The final shape refines gradually over time. As the swelling resolves, the chest becomes firmer, flatter, and more defined
